Temecula & Wine
We just returned from a week in southern California to celebrate Jessica’s 30th birthday, and it is safe to say we had an amazing trip! The day after we arrived we decided to head even further south to Temecula to visit some of the wineries. We have heard so many great things about traveling out to southern California's wine country, so we figured we better check it out. The weather was perfect for sipping on some wine and eating our weight in yummy food.
Our first stop was at Miramonte Winery. It was definitely our favorite from the wineries we visited. We dined on wine (obviously..ha!), veggie flatbreads, and bread and cheese platters. The food was so tasty and paired perfectly with our wine. We could not get over how beautiful outside felt and the views were stunning. I loved the Spanish style architecture at this winery and the outside patio was relaxing and peaceful. We grabbed a seat in the shade near the balcony to get the best view of the mountains in the distance and the rolling hills lined with vinyards. There was an inside tasting room but the weather was too perfect to pass up on the outdoors. After we ate we took a walk around the winery’s grounds to soak in the sunshine. We are used to the Florida humidity so the cooler dry weather was a nice change. I could have spent the entire day at this winery but there were much more places to explore and more wine to taste.
We spent the second part of our day at Bel Vino for a little bit more wine wasting. We wish we would have been able to stay later in the evening because they were setting up for live music. We still had fun learning about all the different wines they produce. Our favorite wine was the Gewurztraminer. We ended up buying some and shipping it back home. They also had an amazing white merlot. There was a bistro on property but we had already had lunch so we skipped out. It also had great outdoor seating and from the looks of the patrons it seemed to be pretty good.
I would recommend visiting these two wineries if you decide to head to southern California. I can’t wait to go back and visit more of the wineries as there are a ton to visit.
